Random Acts of Batness

Random Acts of Batness

Wednesday, August 2, 2017

Well, I haven't posted for a long time. It's been a hard year, let me tell you. I don't think anyone can quite know what it feels like to be in this position until they are, and it's awful. I don't wish it on anyone.

Brent's been gone now for a little over a year, and things have sucked. I haven't written much all year--just a handful of things that really didn't amount to much. I haven't wanted to do anything. It's hard--why should I do something, when he can't? Why should I enjoy things, when he can't? Those are questions that I ask myself nearly every day. Life has lost its luster, that's for sure.

Since November of last year, I've completed 100 blankets. I've done them all in my free time, and have been trying to get more projects completed. I haven't taken them to the hospital yet--I can't seem to make it up to the fourth floor to see Natasha. I will, though, and when I do, hopefully they make some families happy.

In a month, we will be celebrating Brent's second birthday in Heaven, and I'm hoping that, by then, I'll be able to make the trip to the hospital. Until then, I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

I love you, Brent. There's not a day, nor an hour that goes by that I don't think of you.

Hi, everyone!  I know I haven't been posting in a while, but that's not because I haven't been doing anything, it's just because I've been busy making blankets. :) I'll post some pictures of them later on, but I wanted to say hi, and to let everyone know that good is being done. That's all.

I miss you, Brent.

A little Panera...

Yesterday, I went to Panera Bread for lunch, and purchased the woman's meal behind my car. Even though it was only $5.89, it felt good. It wasn't much, but I've been there--not really having that much money to buy my food, and felt great about doing it. I had a feeling while I was in the drive-thru, and wanted to do something nice for someone else.

While you're out today, do something nice for someone else. It feels so good, and it will more than likely, put a smile on that person's face.

Prayer Blankets

After a day of really thinking about what I could do to help people, I think the idea of making prayer blankets like the ones that we got at Aultman Hospital is the best thing I could do.
So, here's the material that I ordered. I'm going to make 'tie blankets' that are crib size. :)
What do you think of the material?

If any of you would like to contribute to the purchasing of more material, or if you have fleece material for donation, please let me know!  I will also make a "business-type card with the RAOB on it as well as a poem."

I think if I can get enough material going, I can make these blankets all year. I plan on spending around 25 a month to the cause, which should buy a good amount of material. It may only buy 3 blankets or so per month, but it will help.

Our first act...

The Police Department in Mogadore, Ohio, works very hard. Not only do they respond rather quickly to any kind of danger or whatnot, but they are always at the schools, the CVS, and other places--patrolling and keeping our little "village" safe. My brother was a police officer for Bolivar and Sugarcreek Police Departments. While there, he helped many people. I'm proud of who my brother was, and how hard he worked. So, donuts and coffees for these guys! And for me, good Karma. ;)

Thanks for working hard, you're very appreciated!

In Memory of Brent on his 40th birthday...

Some of you may already know about my brother, Brent, but many of you don't. He was a good guy--a funny man that had a big personality. He passed away this July, and since then, I've wondered how I could honor the person that he was and who he was...is to me. He was kind, thoughtful, and loving, and I decided that the best way to honor him, would be to pay it forward to others with random acts of kindness. So, starting tomorrow, on his birthday, I am going to start a new tradition. I'm going to give someone something from the both of us. Something, whether it be a service of some kind, money, or a gift... And since he loved batman so very much, I'm going to call these "Random Acts of Batness." (Lol... I know, I'm a total dork. I can totally see him rolling his eyes right now.)

So, as the days, months and years go by, I'm going to post pictures of the things and posts about what we've done to help others. ( I think this will also help me get into Heaven one day. Lol... See, you are still helping me, Brent.)

So, Happy 40th Birthday, Brent. I miss you dearly, and think of you all the time.
